In a match that was played under both perfect weather and course conditions at Manor Country Club Argyle CC of Silver Spring topped Hayfields of Cockeysville 9 ½ to 8 ½ on Sunday October 22 in a match that came down to the last putt on the last hole.
Robert Baker of Argyle knocked in a 6 footer in the dark to preserve the narrow victory over Hayfields. A missed-putt would have sent the Championship into a playoff.
The made for TV finish topped off a great season of golf for the league and marked a return to the champions circle for Argyle who won for the second time since 2010 and marks the 6th time that the league has had a repeat winner. Other repeat champions include Crofton, Hunt Valley, Turf Valley, Prospect Bay and Cattail Creek.
A special thanks to Bob Silverman and Mike Sullivan of Manor for hosting this year’s event. Once again you and the Manor staff rose to the occasion and exceeded expectations – fantastic job!!!

And Down the Stretch They Come…
The league playoffs are well underway and as of Labor Day we are down to our Elite Eight playoff teams
including: Rolling Road, Montgomery, Hayfields, Hunt Valley, Norbeck, Cattail, Argyle and our reigning
champs South River. Congratulations to each of the teams and best of luck as you progress through the
playoffs!!!
In order to keep the playoffs on track please make every attempt to get the quarterfinals played by
Sunday September 24th and the semifinals played by October 8 th so that we can conduct our
Championship by Sunday October 24 at Manor Country Club!!!
Manor did a great job of hosting the 2016 Championship and the course is in great shape again this year
so get you’re “A” games ready and we look forward to some great competition down the home stretch!
We are working on the single elimination brackets and will post by Tuesday August 9th. Please make sure your roster is updated as we will turn them off and lock them in once the bracket is finalized. We are looking to have the first round matches finished by Labor Day.
Congrats to our teams moving on and thanks to our teams who gave it a go this season.
The final couple weeks of the season are here with the Divisional races are tightening. In the Baltusrol Division South River locked up one of our playoff spots going 5 - 0 through their regular season and Montgomery CC has earned a spot at (3 - 2). The other playoff spots for that division will not be decided until Prospect Bay (2-2) plays Naval Academy (2-2) on the last day of the season. These teams are separated by a single point. For those clubs who will not make the playoffs we hope your members enjoyed the friendly competition and enjoyed playing other golf courses.
Our 2016 Season kicked off on April 23, 2016 with Piney Branch vs Rolling Road and Turf Valley vs Sparrows Point. Eight Matches have been played to date with impressive scores recorded by Michael Fowler, Ed Walsh, and Rob Kohout. All three shot 74 or better.
We are working with Four Streams as they need time to reorganize and might go on sabbatical this season. If that is the case then TPC would play Woodmore and Hillendale will play CC of Maryland as their fifth match. A board team would play Suburban for their fifth match. We will keep you informed.
